David Boehler: i know that chicken is meat im not stupid but i was wondering because i want to go vegetarian but i still want to beable to eat chicken. maybe ill substitute chicken for so veggie burger. do you know if veggie burgers are any good?
Cliff Jacoby: *facepalm*Ow, that hurt
Mee Blumenfeld: If you eat chicken, you're not a vegetarian. That being said, there is no rule that says you must be vegetarian or eat meat indiscriminately. You can choose to eat no meat other than chicken if you want to. What is it about vegetarianism that appeals to you as an idea? (If you're set on begin able to eat chicken, then it is probably the idea and not the practice that you find attractive.)...Show more
Rosio Pasculli: Hey there! To answer your first question, no - vegetarians don't eat chicken (as if that hadn't been said by 20+ people before me already!) but to answer your second question....veggie burgers are SO good!! I love Morning Star Spicy patties. Black! bean burgers with the corn in them are delicious, too. Boca and Garden Burger are also two tasty vegetarian burger brands. You can check out Trader Joe's or Whole Foods Market for tons more options.Other veggie meats....Gardein has good vegetarian "chicken" tenders, Tofurky has "turkey deli meat and even Thanksgiving-style "turkey", Light Life is great for "chicken", and you can always check out the store brand for some veggie meat, too. More and more grocery stores are offering vegetarian products now! Publix has their own brand of frozen veggie foods now, which is cool. So, just take a trip down to your local grocery store and spend some time checking out their options.Best of luck! ;-)...Show more
Hilma Pestano: I'm vegan because of cruelty to animals and health reasons.
Joaquin Dronko: No... any and all meat is off limits when you are a vegetarian. Even fish!
Flor Lizardi: No. If you eat chicken, you would not be considered as a vegetarian. Vegetarian! s do not eat meat, and that includes: chicken, beef, turkey, e! tc. Vegetarians can eat eggs and dairy products, unlike vegans.
Agustina Stimmel: no. vegetarians don't eat meat...which is animals. that are dead. so no chicken.
Anibal Scheid: then he wouldnt be a vegetarian.
Georgia Dees: You can not eat any meat and call yourself a vegetarian. You can eat a mainly vegetarian diet and eat meat only when you want but you won't be a vegetarian. Yes veggie burgers are delicious , look up recipes and watch YouTube videos for different kind of veggie burgers to make. Homemade are much better than the unhealthy fake frozen veggie burgers....Show more
Rachal Osaki: Beans, peas (dried), lentils, tofu, and nuts are good sources of protein. Not all vegetarians eat eggs.
Granville Stray: I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian and I chose to be one after watching a slaughter show on television. Also after going to my mom's friend mom's house and by there house since they live in a real country type of place there where baby cows (s! o cute) and big cows. And then they told me that they are selling them to the slaughter house! I almost cried!
Arlen Lopiccalo: Only with a guilty conscience.
Jinny Dronen: Me too! I loved that sandwich. Looking back, and it's been years, I remember the meat to be fatty and gross, but tasted good. So I'd suggest, and i may try it myself, getting some morningstar starters steak strips. marinate those in one of those pot roast seasoning packets, then cook with onions (red, as i recall), and carrot slivers. Throw that on sour dough, toasted with butter. American cheese and mayonnaise and there you go. That's my best idea.Im almost positive the steak strips are vegan. The butter, cheese and mayonnaise, well you know how to sub that. The grocery i use has "not beef" bullion. I've never tried it, but the "not chicken" is great. That might help with the marinade....Show more
Luther Plagmann: no its meat
Lue Podewils: Yup I'm a veg...anyway there is no poin! t of eating food that makes you fat and that could make you sick I am a! veg because my grand dad used to work on a farm and he had to cut off a chickens head and i walked in and i thought he killed someone and i just don't like to eat stuff that bleeds
Wilmer Skidmore: What will happen if i eat?
Randa Hessell: as a vegetarian i've never had any meat cravings... but when i started i told myself that if i have a craving to just fulfill it or u'll break ur commitment...there is nothing that taste like a pot roast unless u cook ur vegges in a beef stock or seasoning.
Coleman Senn: Not sure this will satify your craving but give it a try =) Slow-Cooker Seitan Pot Roast 1 sweet yellow onion, peeled and coarsely chopped1 pound baby carrots1 pound small red-skinned potatoes, halved or quarteredSalt and freshly ground black pepper1 cup vegetable stock 2 garlic cloves, crushed 1 teaspoon dried thyme2 cups wheat gluten flour1/2 teaspoon onion powder1 1/2 cup water, or more as needed3 tablespoons soy sauce1 tablespoon ketchup or tomato s! auce 1. Alisia Sutphen: yes. a vegetarian can't eat meat. but they can eat ch! icken.
Clementina Collelo: I agree with Jen above, the closest th! ing to pot roast is a seitan roast (wheat gluten).
Jodie Capella: I am a vegetarian since birth. Because of my religion (Hindu, Indian) There are many reasons why I am vegetarian if I go through all of them then I would be sitting here all day writing a book instead of an answer. But I can say one reason:We do not kill another being with a soul, however vegetables also have a soul but lower form of a soul, this means that they don't bleed or feel pain like us or animals do, so it makes it ok to eat them. I know many people may criticize my answer, but this is what I believe in and there are many more reasons as to why I am a veg.
Jill Thomer: I have been free of meat for over twenty years and I feel great. Beans, lentils, nuts, soy products. Invest in a good vegetarian cook book and have some fun.
Corey Rohleder: I am all for people going vegetarian, I am happy in any decrease in meat consumption, but couldn't you theoretically stop eating read meat, but! still chicken and fish, but just not call your a vegetarian? And imitation meats are good. They don't always taste real, but they still taste yummy, and most taste at least like low grade meat. The better fake meats probably taste more real and better. Smart sausages taste amazing real. But just replacing meat in your diet with fake meat isn't a good idea. They are usually unhealthy and expensive....Show more
Stormy Beliard: They can, but they'd no longer be vegetarian.

Lillie Yarde: Nothing that will be close to real meat but you can use bean curd. Personally I say just go for the meat.Look at it as rewarding yourself for sticking to your diet. ;-)
Gwenda Micheals: No
Guy Bonamico: I AM!!!!! I chose to do so for animal's rights. I just love them too much. The other day I cried for about an hour because I saw a picture of a baby seal getting clubbed in front of it's mother. I still won't read that book......
Dorinda Metzer: a vegetarian doesnt eat meat at all, chicken is meat, so no, vegetarians do not eat chicken! :)
Dionna Doyel: no
Toby Caswell: No, vegetarians don't eat meat and chicken is meat.
Gabriel Realmuto: I couldnt do it. I dont ever feel right if Im not eating a wide variety of foods. Im not sure its healthy. I do try and buy local meats and eggs since I know the animals were treated well on the small farms. W! hen it all comes down to it though, our brains got bigger and better as we ate more meat (evolution wise) I dont think its natural to rule out such a wide amount of foods. Just like I dont think Atkins is natural for the same reason.
Christopher Calcano: A chicken is an animal that is abused and exploited for a food that we do not need. Vegetarians never eat animals and that includes chickens.
Alden Soldano: Because most meat eaters regard chickens as a lower form of life than say a cow or a sheep, they have little regard for how they're raised, so they are amongst the most miserably treated of food animals. The answer is of course to go vegetarian and not eat ANY animals. Vegie burgers come in all manner of "flavours", some designed to mimic chicken. The best vegie burgers are home made ones which include all the necessary nutrients but packaged ones are good for people who are having trouble giving up meat....Show more
An Cardine: how wud u feel if u! wr a chicken or a sheep or a cow or a goat urself and ur whole family ! is whipped , beheaded and slaughtered in front of ur own eyes and u r caged as a hapless spectator ???i'd rather starve to death than kill mute helpless animals 4 my tummy .....good going.... be a veggie.... tiz kool !!!
Pasquale Pollet: I don't think you can eat chicken, beef, pork, or any kind of animal meat. Some people say vegetarians can eat fish but I am not sure about this.
Kris Bozelle: Im a vegetarian! I became one about 2 years ago because I love animals
Monica Voltin: No are yOu stupid????!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone knows that chicken is a meat!!!!!
Virgil Loatman: they can but then it is not vegetarian because chicken is a meat and vegetarians do not eat meat hope this answered your question.
Garrett Detone: Use grilled Portabella mushrooms in place of meat
Eliseo Luma: As a new vegan I am doing quite well, but lately I have been craving a pot roast sandwich... I used to LOVE the one at Bob Evans! Anyone have a good recipe for me! ?
Jacques Teri: Can you eat a whole lemon?
Bryan Avinger: You can scale back without going whole hog (sorry for the pun). Introduce fish and seafood into your diet. Maybe a little pork and a little red meat as well. Certainly there are veggie sources but none so efficient as a little meat now and then. Plus you have to keep up your B12 unless you want to screw around with supplements....Show more
Tana Dumoulin: I've been a vegetarian my whole life. I'm also allergic to eggs and honey and lactose intolerant. When I moved to Berkeley I found that there were so many vegan options it was stupid to keep popping lactaid to eat cheese and ice cream.
Shandi Wedge: i chose not to be one because out of the 5 people i know in my area.... all 5 don't even practice it as they say.... oh yea... i found velveeta cheese in 3 of their fridges... eggs in the fourth.... and american cheese in the fifth.... oh yea.. i checked..if you can't be a vegan.. don't....if! you can't live without cheese/dairy products.... call yourself a lacto! vegetarian...not a vegan. stop living a lie..... of course....5 poeple don't serve as a credible sample of the population of vegans... therefore my decision might be area-biased..... but who's to blame?? not me....i chose to be an omnivore because that's something i can deal with... to be honest... i love meat... i also love corn...and to combat veganism.... why is killing an animal better than killing a plant? aren't both living? don't both have a true and important role in all of Life's roles????? who's to say animals are better than plants???? hipocrisy is terrible...by the way... and so is arrogance...
Davina David: Can a humanitarian eat humans?
Terresa Tsasie: Moms who have boys and girls?
Ismael Sixon: you can but only if you throw it up. chicken is still meat.you dont have to starve yourself you know just to fit in with "vegetarian"**** if you like veggies you can still eat chicken i mean nobody is perfect and who is going to blame you. you wont ge! t special points for just eating vegetables and dead chickens cant complain. sorry if im harsh.just eat it its good for you and you know it tastes good. what vegans do is starve themselves of everything the body needs....Show more

Coleman Deliberato: Phat Stew (Vegan Pot Roast)Delicious vegan (no imitation meat) stew.Ingredients (use vegan versions): 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced 2 lbs potatoes, bite size chunks 3 carrots, sliced 2 cans red beans, rinsed 1/2 twig fresh rosemary olive oil 2 tablespoons or to taste salt & pepper to taste (fresh ground and sea are best) 1/8 cup white cooking wine 1 qt/32 fl oz vegetable stock 2 cups water pinch of flour ! (optional)Directions:1. In a stock pot, heat the stock with the rosemar! y on low/medium heat while chopping the ingredients. Add the onions and carrots and increase the heat. Add the beans, and some salt and pepper.NOTE: If you choose to use fewer potatoes, you can cut the amount of water you add. I probably added twice as many as necessary. Cutting the potatoes and water will probably make your stew more flavorful, however mine still turned out delicious.2. Bring the stock, onion, carrots and beans to a boil. Add the potatoes and cover. Let simmer and thicken for about 45 minutes to an hour. Add the olive oil, cooking wine, and flour AFTER the stock has reduced a bit.3. Add salt and pepper throughout the cook time.4. Slip it into some bread. Please feel free to add or substitute ingredients as you see fit. I made this recipe with the easy BIG bread recipe (adding rosemary to that, as well), for a delicious dinner.Serves: A LotPreparation time: 1.5 hours...Show more
Marquetta Gimm: Vegetarians eat eggs and they all full of protein.
! Wally Gower: Soy is the best source of protein (better than meat even). If you want to get the best sort of protein (complete proteins), you need to eat cereals and legumes. Not necessarily during the same meal, but just think to eat some of both. For example, couscous is a meal rich in proteins, thanks to the semolina and chick peas. Or rice with red beans. Houmous on bread. Rice and lentils. You get the idea.Hope you do turn veggie - think of all the lives you will save.Good luck :-)...Show more
