Jed Mutone: WHEN YOU HAVE CASH
Joellen Zorrilla: Winter. when the weather is crap. (for cars) When the gas goes up (trucks). At the end of the month when someone needs to meet quota (all).
Vita Moodie: Time of year doesn't matter. Not in the used car market. People buy and sell when they have to, not when they want to.
Jackelyn Archut: Sure, there are variations during the year that can have some affect on supply, demand, availability, and prices but trying to determine exactly when those times are is a waste of time -- and you certainly can't predict those times ahead of time. Generally speaking, the best time to buy a car is when everybody is NOT buying and sales are slow -- during cold months, bad weather, end of year, during holidays, and buying last year's models after this year's models first come out. The best time to sell is obviously when people are in a buying mood -- during good weather, at tax return season, not during holidays, not during su! mmer vacation time, and after major weather events when people's cars get damaged/flooded/destroyed....Show more
Rufus Plough: End of month is a great time to BUY your new car, but it is NOT the best time to make your first dealership visit. Salesmen do try harder to make sales at the end of the month, which is about the last five days of the calendar month. In addition to the end of the month, there are better and worse times of the year to buy. Best time of the year to buy is the end of December, in most dealerships. Dealerships try to make specific quotas for end of month AND end of calendar year, and it is not a popular time to buy, so sales can slump seriously and they will try harder to make a sale, which means a better bargain. If you shy away from buying in the winter because of bad weather, think again: bad weather is when you WANT to be in the car, testing itâs foul weather capabilities. Other good times of year to buy are end of August and end of Septe! mber because the old models are taking up space on the dealers! hip property, and they want to make room for the new models to come in. If your heart is not set on a brand new model, this is an excellent time to buy a perfectly good new car that happens to have been manufactured a few months earlier. There is a very important BUT to this end of month advice: Do NOT make your very first visit to the dealership at the end of the month. Go to the dealership at the beginning or middle of the month, test drive the cars, get some info, then go home and give yourself two to three weeks to get the best financing. THEN go back at month's end armed with full information and a buying plan. Give yourself a day or two extra in case the first dealership doesn't work out and you need to go to another one. This is a big purchase, don't try to do it all in an afternoon!...Show more
Luana Carothers: Summer is always good but so is tax time.Worst months for selling cars were always Nov-Feb for me so in those months, I might take a lower offer than ! I would in better months just to sell something and get some money rolling in.It never failed, I was so tired of having cars for months that every year I would mark them down & sell them and then end up having to pay the same prices to replace it with something similar. Id guess the end of the year, dec 31st might be a good time to get a deal from a dealer....Show more
Ervin Overbee: If you are looking for a newer vehicle, such as a 2015 the best time to buy will be when the 2016 models start arriving to the dealership late summer/early fall, they will usually discount the previous year model to move them out to make room for the newer vehicles, also if you are looking for a older used car,you can find some relatively cheap ones around tax season, some car lots buyer older used cars around this time of the year.
