Cletus Crotts: Yes it requires an alignment when they change the tie rod's. You could chance driving an mile or two without it, go slow and only to the next shop or you could do years worth of damage to your tires in an short time.
Darcie Peraha: Any work requiring the disassembly of your steering system requires a wheel alignment... Driving your car with the wheels out of alignment can cause significant wear and tear on your tyres.. also in some cases can also be unsafe! Unsafe because driving with wheels not aligned can cause your car to pull to one side especially when you hands are off the wheel.. Imagine you take your hands off the wheels for a few seconds to answer your phone and your car drives itself straight into a pole As professional mechanics they will need to align the wheels when they put everything back together. The Cost of the wheel alignment should have been included in the cost of the replacement of your tie rod.....Show more
Mahalia Brindle! : Absolutely any time you change any parts or make any repairs to the steering or suspension system an alignment MUST be done. Also get the alignment done at the place you get the repair done because if a car is misaligned as little as a 1/4" it will scrub the tire 3,000 miles every mile meaning if you drive 1 mile misaligned it puts 3,000 miles of wear on the tire. Honestly get the stuff done at a dealership. I work for a nissan dealership and all dealerships cost more but take the best care of your car....Show more
