Sold a car and new owner wrecks it the same day, what do I do?

Clemmie Burkleo: When did the CA DMV receive the release of liability? Whatever date it was you were fully responsible and liable for anything that might have happened to the vehicle prior to the filing date.

Samatha Nicar: I live in Orange County, California. The car crashed in a different city than mine. Would I be able to get a police report after all this time?

Donte Schoenhals: You sold your car and you don't have a copy of the bill of sale? Wrong move. That's the only document that can prove that the car was sold and you're no longer liable on it. You didn't even write the buyer's info. You should call the police or the other driver's insurance to get information on your car's buyer, they probably have his info cause that's what they should have done after the accident.

Anton Waln: You shouldn't have paid a dime and you are not responsible.Idiots who work at a collection agency don't know what they are talking about.Just make sure none of this cr! ap is on your credit report. Fight it if you have to.You don't owe anything to anyone....Show more
