Stormy Beliard: Actually HR departments can ask whatever they want to but many folks will only respond to basic information for fear of being sued. My company usually only wants to verify the information listed on the application form -- dates of employment, job title, salary, etc.The only way to know what a former employer says on reference calls is to call them - or have a friend pose as a potential new boss......Show more
