Rosalba Lingner: It depends on the person. If it's right for you, it's absolutely wonderful. You have so much freedom. I'm homeschooled and I have a job, lots of time to explore my interests, but I'm still learning a lot. I have friends, I socialize, and I am in no way hindered by my homeschooled status. I have no doubt that I will go to college and be successful.I just thought I would address these things because I know they'll come up in other answers....Show more
Myron Leftwich: I think home schooling can be wonderful or go horribly wrong. As a high school teacher I have seen wonderful examples of students who, coming into high school from a home school environment excelled far beyond their peers. I have also seen students who could barely read, write and do simple math calculations. It depends solely on the person providing the education and if they know when to speak up and ask for help when things obviously are not going well or are no longer in the best in! terests of the student....Show more
Paul Maymi: Homeschooling has grown in record numbers over the last 20 yrs. More and more children are being homeschooled every year. Colleges have recognized that fact and have opened registration to all homeschoolers. Most colleges look for maturity levels as well as ability to perform college level course work. AP classes are becoming less and less important, although still important. What is more important is your record. Are you a good student, do you excel in the classes you do take? Are you capable of perfoming college course work? Have you done any community service? Written excellent essays? Extra curricular activities, such as sports, art or music. What they want is well rounded individuals who have a proven track record of success....Show more

Home schooling would be if your parents taught the majority of your courses.C! olleges accept home schooled students and online schooled stud! ents. In fact, they actually persue home schooled kids because they are known to be more mature and beyond their age group in not just academics.Home schooling doesn't really allow you to take AP courses, although you can take community college courses and use those credits at a university.Edit: Well, thanks a lot for the two thumbs down. It's not like I am guessing an answer. I know what I'm talking about. If you gave me a thumbs down, you might as well explain why. I've been home schooling since 3rd grade and am about to graduate from high school. I've done online classes integrated with my home schooling schedule so I've had a taste of both....Show more
Troy Staton: I think home schooling is great, because in most home schooling programs, there is a better focus on the student, who then receives more one on one learning. Also, there are less distractions, because there are not other kids around, and you don't have to worry as much about peer pressure, and stuff lik! e that. Also i attend a cyber school, and i have a wider range of classes available to me, that i would not have in a traditional public school. I can also take more college class while in high school. Not to mention through my school i have a lot more scholarship opportunities....Show more
