Home theater Audio questions?

Teodoro Lamond: This receiver: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_022RXV467/Yamaha-RX-V...And these speakers will do nicely: http://www.crutchfield.com/s_653NANO51B/Mirage-Nan...Just add a Blu-ray player, a 1080p flat screen TV and your in business. The difference in 5.1 vs. 7.1 is marginal. Most movies are 5.1. Very few are 7.1 and those will be only the newest releases. Treat home theater as a hobby and build it up over time as money allows. Oda Mauson: the term for 5.1 and 7.1 it is a representation of the amount of speakers that are used in a stereo system....5.1 means five speakers and the .1 is a subwoofer...7.1 seven speakers and a sub woofer. the basic surround sound for home theatre for say a 5.1 system is as follows...and some advice...in any room always work out where the tv is to be situated as the speaker p! ositioning ultimately has to work around the tv....so you have your two main speakers left and right of the tv then two speakers at the rear of your seating position or at the side of the sitting position, then your centre speaker just below the tv and then your subwoofer position this between the centre speaker and the right side main speaker...experiment,let your ears be the judge of the overall sound. try e bay or your local area for bargains for audio equipment. try and shop around for second hand items....Show more
