Jerrod Guilfoil: Hellraiser. The movie Constantine was based off this serie. Of course, the comic book version of John is way better and more crude. I suggest it, it is own by Dark Horse comic.
Dale Mccoun: If You're tired of the classic superhero comics, you should try reading manga (Japanese comics).A lot of them have really powerful plots. And they come in all the possible genres- action, adventure, comedy, romance etc etc.Just browse the internet and you're sure to find something.
Salvatore Walls: I think Y: The Last Man would be good. It's not superhero-y and it has an awesome plot in my opinion. Every male of every species on earth dies except for the main character and his monkey. It's intense and also very funny. It's one of those comics that has a definitive end game and you're constantly working towards that, which I think is awesome. Most comics are pretty random with no big overarching story. I read the entire series within a day, I just couldn't s! top reading it was so good. Or Hellboy. That's a good series too. It's got a lot of spin offs as well. And Walking Dead might also be of interest to you. It really all depends on your personal tastes. I know you said no superheroes but there are a ton of genres. Western, horror, crime, sci fi. There's a book called Chew about a cop that eats people to solve crimes (he's got some sort of psychic thing going on). Gotham Central is a comic about the police in Gotham City (yeah, it's tied to Batman, but it's more of a crime book than a superhero book). But still, I recommend Y: The Last Man the most.
